For anyone that would like a tour of the old and maybe soon to be new synagogue in Helena, I have arranged for Aitz Chaim to tour the facilities THIS SUNDAY 9/19 at 2 PM. I think we should either caravan or carpool. Should we meet maybe in the Smith’s parking lot at noon? In the back near the gas station maybe a good place to meet and/or leave cars. Should be a fun few hours to see the synagogue. If you want to let me know you are coming that would be great so I can give them a tentative head count. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or text me at 868-5712. Hope to see you there!
From Rebecca Stanfel
I just wanted to add a couple of details for the Great Falls group to have. First, Ellen Baumler—Montana’s historian who knows more about Helena’s historic Jewish community than probably anyone (and who wrote the applications and signs for National Register of Historic Places for both the synagogue and the Home of Peace cemetery)— has offered her time to join us. After the building tour, she’s willing to do a modified version of her popular “Historic Helena” tour, focusing on the historic Jewish homes in the neighborhood and the stories of the people who lived there. She’s got some great stories.
After this, I was wondering if folks would like to gather outside on our deck for some simple snacks (crackers and cheese) and drinks before making the drive home. I would love the opportunity to meet with our closest Jewish congregation neighbors.
We’re very excited you all are coming. No matter how small the group, it means a lot to us.
Looking forward to meeting you in person!

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THIS UPCOMING EVENT: BUILDING A COMMUNITY SUKKAH AT GIBSON PARK 09/26/2021 AT 11AM
Sukkot begins the evening of Monday, September 20, and ends the evening of Monday, September 27.
Yesterday after Tashlich, those present talked about having a Sukkot gathering at Gibson Park on September 26 beginning at 11am, weather permitting, of course. We will build a temporary Sukkah. Everyone attending should bring their own lunch as sharing during covid is a problem.
If you have any questions, I can try to answer them, or you could contact Aaron for more details.

From Congregation Har shalom, Missoula:
Hello dear friends in Great Falls!
I agree with President Laura that Rabbi Ruz made a wise decision. At Har Shalom, we decided that we could not gather indoors because our ventilation system is questionable. We felt we could not make the necessary renovations in time for the holidays. So, we initially decided to lead the service from the sanctuary on Zoom with only service leaders present. Then, one of our board members had a breakthrough Covid infection and several members were close contacts, two of whom would be service leaders, reading Torah along with me, OY! So out of an abundance of caution and the desire to put no one at risk, we are now almost completely online for the High Holidays. Only our outdoor Shofar Drive-in and Tashlich will be “in-person” outdoors.
These last-minute adjustments are time-consuming. I know you are completely able to do your own thing, but you are also welcome to join forces with us for any of the services. I’m attaching the schedule. All of the online services will be on Zoom Join Us
Whatever you finally decide to do, just wishing everyone a truly good New Year, filled with hope and sweetness!
NEWEST REVISED High Holiday Schedule 09/01/2021
This is our calendar for High Holidays 2021/5782, updated 9/1 to take place on Zoom because of a recent Covid case in our leadership team (recovering well). As always, no tickets are required; all events are free, and donations are welcome. We are taking the Delta variant and current rise in local infections seriously, and decided that we will broadcast the main services on Zoom from our homes. Other changes may be coming as our pandemic situation develops.
