Meet Our Comedians…

Stand-up comedian Shaun Eli has rightfully been called one of America’s smartest comics. He’s headlined comedy shows on five continents- in person! Whether it’s a story about dining with a vegetarian or successfully fighting a parking ticket, master storyteller Shaun Eli proves that there’s hilarity in the ordinary if you approach life with a comedic warp. Job interviews? Serving on a NYC criminal jury? How about the Ten Commandments? For just about anything he’s experienced Shaun has a hilarious story at the ready.

Cory Kahaney has been busy. She recently appeared The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, was a hit on the 2016 season of America’s Got Talent and was featured in Catskills on Broadway. Cory has been seen on The Late Show with David Letterman and performed a record 7 times on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Cory is also a regular on The View, Fox & Friends and The Moms.
Ms. Kahaney is no stranger to reality shows from America’s Funniest Mom to Next Food Network Star even the Apprentice! But Cory is probably best known as a grand finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing.
Cory Kahaney was named Best Comedian in NYC by Backstage and Best female comedian NYC by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets. And even though she’s had specials on Comedy Central and HBO, her parents still wish she married a doctor!

His first time on stage Wali Collins was convinced that he had bombed, but the manager paid him and asked him to come back every week as a featured act. Wali moved to New York City to work on a show for Comedy Central called “Stand-up Stand-up”. He hosted the largest, funniest, most varied collection of stand-up comedians in the world.

Nominated three years in a row as “College Campus Entertainer of the Year,” Wali is also sought after for corporate events. One of Wali’s greatest achievements was hosting an event for First Lady Michelle Obama. Collins’ television stand-up credits include NBC, CBS, FOX, HBO, ABC’s “The View”, Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd” and Commentary on VH1. David Letterman caught Wali’s act and recruited him to warm-up for his show. Later that season Wali performed his stand up on the “Late Show with David Letterman”. In the words of Robert Klein, “Wali Collins is versatile, smart and very, very funny.”

Whether taking on relationships, his Italian-American family, pop culture or current events, Joe DeVito’s dead-on timing, unexpected twists and sheer flights of lunacy make him a favorite at the top clubs in New York City and across the USA. His performance at the prestigious Just for Laughs Festival was rated “9.5 out of 10” by The Montreal Gazette.

Joe’s TV credits include two performances on The Late Late Show, three appearances on Comics Unleashed, two appearances on Gotham Comedy Live AXS TV, Comedy Central, and was a semi-finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He was also a regular contributor on FOX News Channel’s Red Eye and a recurring guest on FOX Business Channel’s Kennedy, with other panel appearances including Chelsea Lately, CNN, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, and truTV’s The Smoking Gun Presents…

AITZ CHAIM COMMUNITY SUKKOT GATHERING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

The Aitz Chaim community will hold a Sukkot gathering on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Gibson Park, east of the flower garden at Third Street North, at 1:00 P.M.  Come an hour earlier to help us build a Succah. We will gather observing all of the health and safety guidelines concerning the coronavirus: washing hands, using hand sanitizer, social distancing, wearing masks. Instead of an esrog, we will use a lemon. Instead of a lulav, we will use wheat stalks.

Aaron Weissman will bring a camp stove to heat apple cider. There may be individually wrapped food items there. It has been awhile since we have seen each other in person. We want to have a small celebration to commemorate the ingathering of the Jews under God’s protective shelter, and the ingathering of the fall harvest to sustain us through the winter and whatever other hardships the next year may bring.

Please join us in celebrating our connection to God and His protection and provision for us, our connection to the beauty and the bounty of the Earth which He has created for our sustenance and enjoyment, and the strong and loving connections we have with one another.

AITZ CHAIM COMMUNITY ROSH HASHANAH AND YOM KIPPUR SERVICES SCHEDULE

Because of the covid pandemic, Aitz Chaim will not be holding indoor services for High Holy days this year. Our only in person gathering will be for Tashlich at Giant Springs, 5401 18th Ave. N., at 1:30pm Saturday, September 19. We will also have a zoom Yizkor service on Yom Kippur led by Rabbi Ruz at 5pm Monday, September 28. We are still trying to see if we can offer some online learning with Rabbi Ruz and will send an update if that is scheduled.

We encourage our members to take advantage of the online services at Congregation Beth Shalom in Bozeman. They will be streaming High Holy Day services this year from the Ellen Theater. Sign up here or e-mail me at president@aitzchaim.com.
Links for Yom Kippur services will be sent a few days in advance for those services.

Services in Bozeman will be led by Rabbi Mark Kula, accompanied by a cantorial soloist and a pianist.
There will be a way to chat and comment. They use the same machzor we do: Mishkan Hanefesh: Machzor For The Days of Awe. They will have that visible on the screen so you can follow along. (If you want to use an actual book, contact Helen Cherry by phone at (406) 727-2572 or (406) 868-4385 to make arrangements to pick them up. We have a few available to check out).

The president of the Bozeman community wanted to emphasize that there is no charge for these online services. However, their community will incur additional expenses to provide them so donations will be welcome. You can donate here or by mailing a check to Congregation Beth Shalom, 2010 W.Koch St, Bozeman, MT, 59718.

Here is the schedule including both Bozeman and Great Falls offerings:

They will be back to the online service at 5:45 for Ne’ilah – probably a little more formal than ours, if you prefer that option.
