WEAR A YELLOW DAFFODIL ON APRIL 19

Wanting to share with you this project of the POLIN museum in Warsaw.
I encourage you to share this information with your community and make a yellow daffodil, and wear it on April 19
Marcia

The Museum of the History of Polish Jews (POLIN) and its partners will again commemorate the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and will hand out thousands of yellow daffodil pins on the streets of Warsaw and many other cities worldwide. Their volunteers will tell passers-by the history of the Uprising, recalling that it is our common heritage – regardless of nationality or religion.

Daffodils are associated with Marek Edelman, the last commander of the Jewish Combat Organization. Every year on the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising he placed daffodils at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw, Poland and at other sites associated with the extermination of Jews.

Daffodils campaign was initiated by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in 2013 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Yellow daffodil became well-recognized and legible symbol of remembrance of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. On 19 April over a thousand volunteers will be handing out paper daffodils — a symbol of the memory of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising heroes — to passers-by in the streets of Warsaw. This year, they plan to distribute 368,000 paper flowers, thus pointing to the number of Jews residing in Warsaw prior to the outbreak of World War Two.

You too can make and wear a yellow daffodil on/around April 19
Follow the instructions on the website to make the daffodils:
https://polin.pl/en/Warsawghettouprising
You are also invited to post your daffodils on social media and the POLIN site to be a part of they global project

Thank you for your participation
