NEW YEAR, NEW ROOF — THE MONTANA JEWISH PROJECT

From: Montana Jewish Project
Subject: New year, new roof!

Dear Supporters and Friends of the Montana Jewish Project,

Thank you so much to those who have contributed to our “Raise the Roof” campaign! Your donations help us preserve a vital piece not only of Helena and Montana history, but also of Jewish American history.

A roofing project is not glamorous. But so much of what we do happens under this roof, including the beautiful connections we make. While we have many longer-term plans for improving the accessibility and enhancing our use of this landmark building, our first priority for maintenance had to be replacing the roof to make sure the building – a container to hold us in our times of joy and hardship, a place where we can feel safe being Jewish and reach out to other communities – was safe from potential water or structural damage.

We recently marked our one-year anniversary of reacquiring historic Temple Emanu-El, and are grateful to have many more celebrations planned in the building for the coming year.

We’ll eat apples and honey under our new roof on September 17 to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with the Helena Jewish community. We will fill our space with song. We’ll say shehecheyanu, the prayer for a new beginning, the same blessing we said when we re-dedicated historic Temple Emanu-El last year. Together, we’ll learn, hug, laugh, and connect. We’ll find common ground under one roof – the one that brings us together as Jewish Montanans.

We have five weeks left to reach our goal of $100,000, and we’re almost halfway there. Would you help us achieve our goal with a gift for the Jewish New Year?

Thank you so much for being on this journey with us.
Shana tova,

Rebecca Stanfel
